The 30,000 reasons writer is not high on Scripps Health – San Diego Union-Tribune

Re “Scripps Health celebrating 100 years of caring for San Diegans” (Sept. 16): The article from the Scripps CEO was interesting as far as its history is concerned. Too bad Chris Van Gorder didn’t mention kicking over 30,000 patients out of Scripps system as of January 2024 by no longer accepting Medicare Advantage plans. On Jan. 1, all those patients had to find alternative care, new primary care physicians and face possible disruption of continuing treatment they may have been undergoing. This is a prime example of the problem of health care in this country where profits come first.— Britt Jones, Normal Heights
