Rollerblader killed in hit-and-run on Westside
A rollerblader was hit and killed by a driver near the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Bundy Drive. Police are searching for the driver.
LOS ANGELES – The man killed in a West Los Angeles hit-and-run last week while skating on Rollerblades was identified on Monday.
The collision occurred around 8:38 p.m. Friday near 2120 S. Bundy Drive near Olympic Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Jonathan Gonzalez, 31, died at the scene, the county Department of Medical Examiner reported on Monday. His city of residence was not known.
Witnesses told police the driver of a Dodge Durango SUV was traveling west on Olympic when he struck the victim, who was also heading west on Olympic near Bundy, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman said.
The suspect drove away from the scene without stopping. Video showed the bumper of a black Dodge Durango in the street near the crash.
The investigation of the collision will be handled by the LAPD’s Traffic Division, police said.
