FLORIDA EVERGLADES – A 16-foot-long python was found in the Florida Everglades.

She contained over 60 eggs that were days away from being laid.

The Martin County Trapping and Wildlife Rescue states a removal like this is crucial to the ecosystem.

The wildlife agency reports it has rescued three adult alligators from the snakes.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) says these snakes pose a threat to native wildlife because they have no natural predators.

According to the rescue, a python this size can eat anything in the Everglades.

Burmese pythons are nonnative and can be humanely killed on private land at any time with landowner permission, according to the FWC. No permit is required and there is no bag limit.

The FWC encourages people to capture and humanely kill pythons. The organization has even announced a Python challenge beginning in August to help remove the snakes.
