My Clever Hack for Keeping Produce Fresh Is on Sale at Grove Co

I grew up in a household where we saved leftovers, even if it was the smallest portion of potatoes, and finished them no matter what. I’ve carried the no-waste mentality into my adult years, but honestly, it’s a lot more difficult when there’s only one other person, my husband, to help finish food as opposed to a family of five.

As much as I try to use up extra produce throughout the week, some of it inevitably goes bad. However, I recently discovered a solution that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer, and it’s on sale today at Grove Co

Food Huggers Reusable Silicone Food Savers

Grove

As the name suggests, Food Huggers are silicone savers that fit various types of produce and provide an airtight seal to keep them fresh. They come in a pack of five with sizes ranging from 3.5 to 10.5 centimeters, which are suitable for large foods like grapefruits and peppers as well as small widths like bananas and cucumbers.

For best results, simply choose the right size of Hugger and press the cut side of the food into it to release air. I’ve been using them to prevent half-eaten apples from browning, tomatoes from turning mushy, and onions from drying out. Not only have they completely replaced plastic wrap in my home, they are much more efficient at keeping food crisp and flavorful for days. Plus, they can be used again and again by tossing them in the dishwasher or cleaning them by hand.

In addition to prolonging the life of vegetables and fruits, Food Huggers can cover open wine bottles, jars (think: pasta sauce and salsa), and cans of both human and pet food. I feed my cat wet food every day, and they have been such a quick, easy, and eco-friendly alternative to pulling out aluminum foil or Saran wrap each time, not to mention, preventing my fridge from smelling.

Tons of other home cooks love Food Huggers, too. One shopper said they “tried other reusable covers that were hard to store, became sticky, and smelled bad after regular use,” but Food Huggers “have none of those problems.” They added that they “maintain their sturdy shape, wash easily, and remain odorless.” Another customer shared that the silicone savers have been “so popular in [their] house that [they] ordered a second set.”

If you want to stop wasting produce and start storing them smarter, grab a set of Food Huggers while they’re on sale for $15 at Grove Co. Read on to shop more of my favorite clever kitchen finds.
