Shawn Mendes has delayed the release of his next album, Shawn, which was originally set to drop on Oct. 18. The LP marks the singer’s fifth album, following 2020’s Wonder, and has been highly-anticipated by fan since he announced it.

“Hey guys,” Mendes wrote on X. “My team and i have decided to push the album release date to November 15th. We just need a little bit more time to bring some new inspiration and ideas to life. I love you guys thank you for being so patient, I can’t wait to see you guys at the next few shows.”

Mendes first revealed his intention to release Shawn in July, debuting the album’s first song “Isn’t That Enough.”

“Music really can be medicine,” he wrote in an Instagram post announcing the LP. “2 years ago I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift.”

Shawn was recorded over the past two years after Mendes canceled his Wonder world tour in order to focus on his mental health, with the singer laying down tracks in a wide variety of studios including Nosara in Costa Rica, Clubhouse Studio in Rhinebeck, New York, Bear Creek Studio in Washington State, Darkhorse Recordings in Nashville, and New York City’s Electric Lady.

It was written and co-produced by Mendes, alongside collaborators Scott Harris, Mike Sabath, Nate Mercereau, and Eddie Benjamin, with additional songs co-written by Amy Allen and Ethan Gruska. The Punch Brothers’ Chris Thile provides instrumentation on the album.

Mendes has since dropped a few more tracks from the album, including “Why Why Why” and “Nobody Knows,” which he debuted at the MTV VMAs last month.

The singer scheduled several intimate theater concerts around the release of Shawn, where he has been playing the new album in full. This month, Mendes will perform at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Brooklyn’s Brooklyn Paramount, Los Angeles’ the Ford, and Seattle’s Paramount Theatre.
