Kanye West’s new neighbors SLAM ‘delusional’ rapper for his plans to build a city within Beverly Hills

Kanye West has angered some people in his new Beverly Hills neighborhood and he hasn’t even moved in yet.

The hip-hop icon recently closed on a new 20,000 square foot mansion for a cool $35 million, as he and his wife Bianca Censori galavant around in Tokyo, Japan in recent days.

While West hasn’t said outright that he’s planning on bringing his DROAM plan — a self-sustaining city he first proposed to build in the Middle East — to the Westside of Los Angeles, some people seem to think he’s now imagining the idea in an Instagram post, TMZ reports.

After talking with several of West’s new neighbors in the gated community of North Beverly Park, the publication reported that residents are opposed to rapper’s idea.

In fact, one of those people who lives close to West’s new mansion slammed it as ‘delusional.’

Kanye West, 47, bought a new $35 million home in Beverly Hills, and already neighbors in the area have let it be known he won't be bringing his DROAM idea of a sustaining city to the area, which comes months after proposing the plan for the Middle East

The outlet maintains the homeowners association in the area is complicated, so it’s highly unlikely anyone would be voting to let Team Kanye West reenvision an entire community to his liking.

Plus, there’s not a lot of land left to build on so it would take even more money to transform those existing properties, which would cost many millions in order to make the hypothetical city a reality in LA.

Some of those neighbors pointed to West’s failed gutting and makeover of his beachfront Malibu mansion as reason to believe he’s not up to the task, while others worry his worldwide celebrity could bring unwanted fans and potential disturbances to the area.

The 11-bedroom, 18-bathroom home sits on about seven acres of land and features a resort-style pool with a waterfall, a second lap pool, a pool house, a tennis court and an entertainment pavilion.

The purchase comes about a month after his gutted Malibu, California property was sold for $21 million, according to Page Six.

The Can’t Tell Me Nothing star, who paid $57 million for the home in 2021, initially listed the concrete-built property for $53 million this past December with the help of Selling Sunset star Jason Oppenheim.

The huge drop in listing price for the beachfront home is likely due to West removing all of the windows and electricity three months ago in an attempt to turn the mansion into a ‘bomb shelter from the 1910s, TMZ reports.

This comes in the wake of rumors that West has been considering a move to Tokyo, which has since raised concerns for his ex-wife Kim Kardashian regarding their shared parenting schedule for their four children: North 11, Saint, eight, Chicago, six, and Psalm, five.

West revealed his idea for a self-sustaining city in the Middle East in a tweet last year and it involves developing a 100,000-acres for the futuristic city.

The project, which would take place on an area twice the size of New York City, has reportedly in the first phase for a while now, as West looks for partners to help with the planning and development.

West had been one of the wealthiest musical artists; with Forbes first listing the rapper, producer, and entrepreneur as a billionaire in 2020.

After talking with several of his new neighbors in the North Beverly Park gated community, TMZ is reporting that some of them were very clear in stating that West won't be building a new DROAM city in their area, with one calling the idea 'delusional'

But the rap legend’s net worth has dropped off precipitously these last couple of years, falling to around $400 million in large part due to Adidas’s termination of their partnership following a series of public antisemite antisemitic statements, the outlet reports.

The Gap and Balenciaga were also among the companies to cut ties with West following his rants in October 2022.

It turns out that collaboration had a bigger impact on West’s bottom line than the reverse. At one point Adidas got an estimated 4% to 8% of its sales from Yeezy products, while Adidas accounted for three-quarters of West’s worth when he was hovering around $2 million net worth mark.
