VENTURA, Calif. — It’s been a decade since fans have had a chance to see the X Games in Southern California.

The action sports competition returns to the area July 21 to 23 and makes its debut in Ventura at the Ventura County Fairgrounds and Events Center.

One of the local athletes taking part is Colby Raha. He grew up in Acton and has been competing in the X Games since 2017. He takes part in the Moto X QuarterPipe High Air and won the gold medal his first year competing, which was also the debut of the QuarterPipe High Air.

Since then, Raha has won multiple gold medals, in addition to other medals. Last year, Raha won gold and set the record for the event reaching 49 feet. He has always wanted to be a professional dirt bike rider and has more than achieved his goals through hard work, focus and overcoming hardship.

Raha now has multiple sponsors and his own clothing line. He has built his own motocross park in the High Desert area.

“Just been a dream come true,” he said. “Blessed to be doing what I’m doing.”

Tickets for X Games can be found here.
