Search continues for escaped Caldwell County inmate

Authorities are searching for an imate who escaped from a minimum security prison in Lenoir, North Carolina, according to the state Department of Corrections. 

Matthew Brown, 37, escaped Caldwell Correctional Center, a minimum security prison, Monday night, officials said. 

Brown was serving a 19-month sentence after he was convicted for drug possession and possession of stolen goods. He was scheduled to be released in February. 

Prison officials ask anyone with information on Brown to call 911 or Caldwell Correctional Center at 828-726-2509.

This is the second escape from a state minimum security prison in about a month. William Cooper, 36, escaped from the Orange Correctional Center on June 19, officials said. He was arrested the next day, along with an woman who officials said helped him escape.
