Draymond Green Explained Why Being Down 3-1 to Lakers Isn't Bad at All

Draymond Green and the Warriors have their backs against the wall in their second-round series against the Lakers, but the outspoken star doesn’t seem too concerned about Golden State’s predicament.

Green laid out his mindset heading into the first of potentially three win-or-go-home games Wednesday night on his podcast, The Draymond Green Show.

“Guess what? It’s the first to four. Not the first to three,” Green said. “Whether it’s 3–1, 3–0, no matter. That’s the reason it’s a seven-game series: It’s the first to four, and we understand that.”

Green sees a real path to winning the series, as long as the Warriors can find a way to win Game 5 Wednesday night in the Bay Area.

“You go win one game, all the pressure flips,” Green said. “You go back to [Crypto.com Arena] 3–2, essentially puts [the Lakers] in a must-win situation. No one wants to go on the road for a Game 7.

“And we got nothing to lose. Down 3–1, you come out swinging, you go down swinging if you do go down, but we’re not going down.”

The Warriors’ core has been on both sides of some of the most historic 3–1 comebacks in NBA history. In 2016, Golden State came back from down 3–1 to the Thunder in the Western Conference finals, only to lose after leading 3–1 against LeBron James and the Cavaliers one round later in the NBA Finals.
