Every once in a while, Taco Bell and other fast food chains hype up their fan bases by reintroducing menu items that gained immense popularity when they were first launched. In February, Taco Bell brought back the Crispy Melt Taco. In March, it announced the return of the Volcano menu, which was first developed in the 1990s.
This August, Taco Bell is bringing back a cult-favorite menu item — but only for a limited time.
On March 30, Taco Bell hosted a fan vote to decide which discontinued item would make a return: the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco or the Beefy Crunch Burrito. The latter, which has a Facebook fan page with over 66,000 followers, won the final tally by garnering 59.9% of the votes, according to Today.com.
First introduced in 2010, the Beefy Crunch Burrito consists of Taco Bell’s famous seasoned ground beef, rice, nacho cheese, sour cream and a smattering of Flamin’ Hot Fritos, all wrapped in a flour tortilla. While it was popular from the onset, the burrito was discontinued only a year later in 2011. It returned nationwide in 2016 and again in 2018 but hasn’t been seen since. The spicy, crunchy burrito will surely get fans excited, though Taco Bell has not announced how long it will be on the menu again.
This isn’t the first time Taco Bell has given fans a say in which items they want back on the menu. In September 2022, the brand, which is owned by Yum! Foods, had fans vote for either the Double Decker Taco or the Enchirito. The winner was the Enchirito, but it returned to menus for only two weeks.
