LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A Lee County chiropractor needs help cracking a bizarre case. Someone broke into his office and stole a box of supplies. The thief also took something that will make your mouth water.
On Tuesday morning Dr. Kent Messer was walking into work at SunCoast Energy Centers. He was looking forward to eating the coconut pie his wife made for him.
Messer said he left it in the company fridge the night before.
“I had very simple goals. I just wanted to get to the office, get my slice of pie, get on with my day,” said Messer.
When he opened the fridge, the pie was gone! All that was left was an empty container and a few crumbs.
At first, he thought a coworker had deprived him of the delicious snack, but when he was informed that a box with $ 1,500 worth of supplies was missing, he knew it was a thief.
“That’s when we went into the third bay and noticed that the emergency fire entrance had been jimmied and popped open,” said Messer.
Lee County deputies came and dusted for fingerprints. Messer said this is not the first time his wife’s food has been involved in a theft.
“This is the second food-related incident involving my wife. When she was up in Bradenton, someone broke into our house and tried to steal some food,” he said.
Deputies are still searching for the person who broke into the chiropractic business off of College Parkway.
