CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Cape Coral Police gave updates in the search for Barry Schmalbach, a Cape Coral man who has been missing for two weeks.
Cape Coral Police Chief Anthony Sizemore said investigators believe foul play is involved and said they have a person of interest in the case. Sizemore, however, did not identify the person suspected of being connected to Barry’s disappearance.
Barry Schmalbach’s boyfriend, Christopher Davis, was arrested on Aug. 1 for an unrelated warrant out of South Carolina for violating his probation there.

The couple lived together in a condo on Beach Parkway, just a mile away from where Barry was last seen on July 19 at Cruisers.
A missing person’s report says a friend reported Schmalbach missing on July 22 after going to his apartment and not finding any sign of him.

The friend, Miguel Blanco, noticed the apartment was messy, which he said was unlike Schmalbach to leave it.
The report also noted police had evidence that someone had driven Schmalbach’s Jeep in between July 20 and 22, but the Chief would not elaborate on how they knew or who may have driven it.
Davis told police Schmalbach left the apartment in someone else’s car but wouldn’t tell them more when they originally interviewed him two weeks ago.
