CAPE CORAL, Fla. — On Saturday morning, missing person Barry Schmalbach’s friends and family will begin passing out and hanging up missing persons posters.

They’ll start at Jaycee Park at 10 a.m. and make their way through the Beach Parkway neighborhood, passing Schmalbach’s condo. Then they’ll go to all the businesses and restaurants off of 47th Terrace.

Miguel Blanco is Schmalbach’s best friend, he said anyone who wants to help is welcome.

Schmalbach vanished over two weeks ago. Today the Cape Coral Police Department held a press conference to announce they believe foul play was involved and they have a person of interest in his disappearance.

Tonight Schmalbach’s boyfriend, Christopher Davis, is still in jail after being arrested on an out-of-state warrant. Police have not said if he is the person of interest.

Despite all of this, it isn’t stopping loved ones from trying to bring home Schmalbach safely.

“At the moment, but we still have some hope that we’re gonna find Barry. I miss him so much and I really want him to come home and then like slap him in the back of his head and say ‘you worried us too much,’ and then go have a drink with him.”

Schmalbach’s sister flew all the way here from Chicago to help find her brother. She said their goal is to pass out and hang up as many missing persons posters as possible.

“We want to spread awareness about Barry in case people haven’t heard it, they haven’t seen it — just to share any information that they might have,” said Emily Scaleta.
