Pedestrian killed in Clarendon Hills crash

A 30-year-old man was killed early Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Route 83 in Clarendon Hills.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the man was standing or walking in the left travel lane of southbound Route 83 at the 55th Street bridge when he was struck by a vehicle about 4:45 a.m. on Thursday Aug. 10, Clarendon Hills Police Chief Paul Dalen said.

The man, whose name had not been released as of Thursday afternoon. was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he died from his injuries, Dalen said.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the man was released Thursday with no charges filed against him at this time, according to police.

The crash is being investigated by Clarendon Hills Police Department with the assistance of the DuPage County MERIT Major Crash Reconstruction Team, Dalen said.
