Three people died, and three were injured in a house fire in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, early Friday. The dead include a married couple and a 13-year-old girl, officials said Monday, identifying the victims.
The dead and injured were all from Maryland, the town said in a news release Monday.
The fire was reported at about 2:30 a.m. Friday, according to the town. Firefighters found the house fully engulfed in flames. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The town said Colleen Cohan, 64, and William Deeg, 68, husband and wife, died in the fire. They were from Ashton, Maryland. Sienna Farr, 13, also died in the fire. She was from Silver Spring, Maryland.
Farr’s mother, 48, and her mother’s boyfriend, 55, were injured in the fire. They are still being treated in a burn unit at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia, officials said. The couple lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.
A 16-year-old girl, Farr’s sister, was also injured in the fire. She has since been released from the hospital, officials said.
Photos from the fire early Friday show towering flames rising from a home near the beach on the 1800 block of North Virginia Dare Highway. The area is just north of the Wright Brothers National Monument and a popular destination for summer beach vacations.
Two neighboring houses were damaged in the fire, officials said.
