President Joe Biden will fly into Tahoe on Friday and spend a week on the Nevada side of the lake, according to the White House.
It’s not clear where Air Force One will land, or where the president and his entourage will be staying, though the Nevada Globe reported his destination is the Hyatt Regency in Incline Village. The White House has not disclosed if the visit is for work or pleasure, though no public events have yet been announced.
Secret Service personnel were seen in and around the southern and eastern shore of the lake over the weekend, according to South Tahoe Now.

The trip comes amid some criticism of Biden’s perceived delay in speaking about the disaster in Hawaii, as the Maui wildfires death toll hits 99. Over the weekend Biden was asked about the situation in Lahaina, and simply replied “no comment,” drawing significant criticism. On Tuesday, Biden told the press he had been in conversation with Hawaii Gov. Josh Green, and will be visiting Maui with the First Lady “as soon as we can,” which would presumably be after his weeklong trip to Tahoe.
Numerous presidents have visited the lake over the years, including Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, who was once photographed skiing Heavenly Valley.
The most recent time a sitting president visited the lake was at the 20th annual Lake Tahoe Summit in 2016, where Barack Obama spoke to a crowd of 9,000 in the Harvey’s parking lot on conservation issues in the region.
President Donald Trump never visited the lake while in office, though he has a notorious history with the region — his alleged affair with adult star Stormy Daniels reportedly started at the Edgewood Tahoe golf course.
