Soap opera star Nancy Frangione dead at 70

Nancy Frangione, a soap opera star best known for her roles in “Another World” and “All My Children,” has died. She was 70.

Frangione passed away in her hometown of Barnstable, Massachusetts, on Aug. 18, according to her online obituary. A cause of death was not shared.

Born on July 10, 1953, Frangione played Tara Martin on ABC’s “All My Children” from 1977-79.

She also portrayed scheming villain Cecile DePoulignac on “Another World” from 1981-84, reprising the role a number of times.

She won the Soap Opera Digest award for outstanding villainess in 1984.

She filled in for Andrea Evans as Tina Lord on ABC’s “One Life to Live” in 1985.

She also played Fran Fine’s cousin Marsha on “The Nanny” and guest-starred on “Highway To Heaven,” “Matlock” and “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.”

She appeared in the TV movies “Sharing Richard” in 1988 and “In the Line of Duty: A Cop for the Killing” in 1990.

Off screen, Frangione married her “Another World” co-star Christopher Rich in 1982. They welcomed a daughter, Mariel, before divorcing in 1996.

Friends and fans flocked to Frangione’s obituary page to remember her talent.

“I loved to hate her character, Cecile, on Another World — what a fine actress! So sad! May her loved ones find comfort,” one supporter wrote.
