Only two storms remain in the Atlantic as of Sunday morning with one other area of interest for development.

Tropical Storm Gert, in the central Atlantic, is still maintaining intensity with 60 MPH winds, but it is expected to dissipate within the next two days as it drifts north-northeast. It will be a fish storm as it has not impacted land throughout the entirety of its track as a tropical storm. 

Tropical Storm Katia formed Saturday morning in the eastern Atlantic. As of the 5 AM advisory on Sunday, Katia is barely maintaining tropical storm status with 40 MPH sustained winds. Katia will also be a fish storm as it is forecast to dissipate within the next day or so.

A tropical wave is producing shower and thunderstorm activity in the far eastern Atlantic. The National Hurricane Center forecasts a high chance for development of a tropical depression within the next week. While it still is a ways out, we will be monitoring as it moves west-northwest in the upcoming days ahead. If it becomes a named storm, it will take the name Lee.
