One dead, one in custody in Homewood crash at 183rd and Kedzie

The circumstances of a fatal crash Wednesday in Homewood are still under investigation, police say.

At 8:45 a.m., on Homewood Police and Fire departments responded to a three-car crash at the intersection of 183rd Street & Kedzie Avenue.

Two of the three drivers were taken to South Suburban Hospital, where one died later that day. The other hospitalized driver was treated for “minor injuries” according to a statement from the village.

The third driver was not injured and taken into custody pending the investigation, the statement said.

As of Thursday morning, the Homewood Police Department did not have any update regarding the two surviving drivers, the circumstances of the accident or more information on the person in custody.
