A fight broke out Monday at Walt Disney World over a family photo. Unfortunately, no one was wielding a lightsaber.
When the park decided to put up a sign to celebrate “100 years of Wonder,” it likely didn’t expect it to inspire a fistfight. Two guests were banned from Walt Disney World May 15 after a fight broke out in front of the 100th anniversary sign. It started around 2:30 p.m., when the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for a case of battery, a spokesperson told SFGATE.
One family was trying to take a picture in front of the 100th anniversary sign in the Magic Kingdom park when a larger family walked up, close to the family that was already there. A member of the first family asked the larger family to move so they could take a picture, but then a member of the larger family allegedly punched a member of the first family in the face, OCSO said.
Since the altercation, multiple videos of the fight have been circulating on social media. However, OCSO said it could not confirm if the videos were from the altercation.
A battery victim received treatment for injuries at the scene. Police made no arrests, as the smaller family declined to press charges.
However, two members of the larger family involved in the fight have been banned from entering the park and “were trespassed from the property,” OCSO said.
Walt Disney World prohibits the use of profanity and “engaging in unsafe, illegal, disruptive or offensive behavior,” according to park rules. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
