Rain chances are going to be increasing through the weekend.

There’s a slow-moving frontal system pushing through North Florida, which will slowly move south overnight. As the frontal system hovers between Central and Southwest Florida this weekend, we will see additional cloud cover and more scattered rain activity.

The remainder of Thursday will be humid, with decreasing clouds and shower activity. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 70s. Friday will start out pleasantly sunny. A couple of downpours will pop up near the coast around noon and will move inland throughout the early afternoon. The storm tracker keeps scattered storms near and east of I-75 through the rest of the night. Highs are in the low-mid 90s.

With more rain in the forecast, high temperatures will no longer be record-breaking but still slightly above the average for this time of year.

Tracking the Tropics:

The National Hurricane Center is still tracking two hurricanes and one area for potential development.

Hurricane Lee is bringing tropical storm conditions to Bermuda on Thursday and Friday. It is forecast to move towards the far northeastern U.S./Canada border, where landfall could be anywhere between Jonesport, ME, and southern Nova Scotia on Saturday. Storm surge is forecast up to 3 feet above ground level along the New England border.

Hurricane Margot is still swirling in the north-central Atlantic well west of the Azores. It is expected to weaken to a tropical storm in the next couple of days before dissipating.

Lastly, conditions are becoming better organized for a tropical depression to form within the next day or so in the central tropical Atlantic. The disturbance is forecast to move west-northwest and could become our next named storm— Nigel. Models indicate that it will follow a similar track that Lee took, keeping it away from the Caribbean and Florida. We’ll be watching it regardless, so stay tuned for updates.
