LEE COUNTY, Fla. — It’s not every day you catch a Florida man committing a crime on camera.

On Saturday, the Boby family woke up to find that a man wearing no shoes had strolled by their home in the Gladiolus Lakes Preserve community and walked away with their massive extension ladder.

Now this ladder Isn’t small. It was being used to reach high up into a tree to trim some branches.

The family left it outside overnight, unknowingly giving a sticky-fingered Florida man the opportunity to steal it.

“He just walked, barefoot, I was surprised to see him like that,” Mini Boby said.

It’s not too often you find someone walking through the gated community at 6 a.m., let alone barefoot.

“I’ve never seen him here,” she said.

From the video, you can tell he’s interested in her ladder. He walks by, walks back to it to check it out, walks away again and then comes back for the steal.

“Then he stood there for a little bit, and then he took the ladder,” Boby explained.

At this point you might be thinking: ‘Why did you leave the ladder outside?’

Boby explained that her husband left it outside overnight after trimming the trees and was going to continue his chores the next day.

But not before this man came by to steal it.

“I can’t even blame him,” said Carlie Noto. “If I was in need of a ladder and I was doing a walk-by at night, I might f****** take it too.”

Sure, the ladder is on his shoulders as he walks away. But if you ask Noto, the fault doesn’t sit solely on him.

“I’d let that slide. I’d be like, ‘f*** I left my ladder outside. Somebody got it,’” she said.

The family wants whoever took this ladder to bring it back.

Boby said they can leave it leaning against the tree where they stole it from.

She did file a report with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, so it comes down to whether or not the Florida man does the right thing before deputies catch him.
