‘Jersey Shore’ cast members star in new Wawa pizza commercial filmed in Cape May County

Last month, three “Jersey Shore” cast members were spotted in a couple of Cape May County Wawas accompanied by camera crews and pizza boxes. Now, the reason for the reality stars’ convenience store trips has been uncovered.

“DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Vinny Guadagnino — who all currently appear in MTV’s spinoff series “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” — were filming a commercial for Wawa pizza at stores in Wildwood and Lower Township’s Villas neighborhood.

In the new ad, which the convenience chain posted on Monday, the trio makes a typical Wawa run, and DelVecchio notices pizza — which Wawa added to its menu earlier this summer — being advertised.

“Yo Vin! Wawa has pizza!” DelVecchio shouts to Guadagnino, who is browsing the refrigerated drinks section.

They then let Sorrentino know the exciting news, and all three men exclaim “Wawa has pizza!” in a chorus reminiscent of DelVecchio’s famed “Cabs are here!” line.

South Jersey residents should recognize the unique Doo Wop-style architecture of the Wawa located at 418 W. Rio Grande Ave. in Wildwood. The guys also were spotted filming inside the Villas Wawa located at 1515 Bayshore Rd.

The commercial was filmed a bit farther south than the “Jersey Shore” stars are used to, as their original show, which followed the shenanigans of a fun-loving group of friends, was filmed at a now-famous house in Seaside Heights, Ocean County.

Ironically, the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority turned down a request to film a “Jersey Shore” reunion in Wildwood in 2018, saying the town “does not welcome the message” of the MTV reality show.

Currently, “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation,” which has reunited nearly all of its original cast members, is in its sixth season. This season has seen the long-awaited return of original cast member Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola and has followed the friends on a tour across the country, which included a stop in Atlantic City.

The “Jersey Shore” stars are the latest local celebs to partner with Wawa, following Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber and Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith.

“Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on MTV.
