FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — Cameras were rolling when a few people on Miramar Street on Fort Myers Beach got into a fight over chickens.
The video shows people yelling at each other over what to do with the chickens. Moments after, fists were flying.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the altercation and confirmed the fight was over chickens. Robert Bourassa (65) and Dashiell Gonzalez (43) were arrested during the feathery frenzy.
Neighbors say the chickens have been roaming around the neighborhood for weeks. Some neighbors enjoy them and leave them food and water, while others think they are a nuisance.
The Town of Fort Myers Beach said, “The Town has been aware of them since they first appeared, and the beach and street enforcement team has been working to find solutions.”
ABC7 crews watched domestic animal services take three chickens away. Meanwhile, three others still remain. Crews saw them resurface from the bushes after the chaos.
ABC7 is still working to find out if anyone suffered any injuries.
