A 41-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a 39-year-old man who demanded to come inside of her South Side residence where he battered and attempted to sexually assault before fleeing, police said.

Around 4:30 a.m, a man demanded the woman to open her apartment door in the 9000 block of South Loomis Street. When the woman complied, the man attacked the victim, police said.

He fled the apartment, and no one was in custody. Detectives were investigating.
