Chicago’s bars and restaurants go all out for Halloween, so no matter what your favorite part of the holiday is, there’s a treat in store for you.

You can compete in costume contests by yourself or with your pup, get crafty with pumpkin carving, and find some spooky good themed food and drinks. There are family-friendly bashes, haunted dance parties, boozy drag brunches and tarot readings at events running through the end of October.

Costumes are encouraged for a Halloween cookie decorating event for kids at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. Oct. 29 that includes apple cider and a trick or treat bag for $33.
