CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) announced that a man was arrested Sunday following two separate shooting investigations in Port Charlotte.

With the collaborative efforts of CCSO and NPPD, Muncan was arrested in connection to two Port Charlotte shootings on Sunday, Oct. 22.

At around 12:00 a.m., CCSO deputies were called to a local hospital to investigate a minor with a single, non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

According to CCSO, the victim stated he was shot while meeting an acquaintance, “Joe,” on Conway Boulevard to buy marijuana between 11:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. that night.

The victim described Joe as having reddish hair, a grill on his teeth, and driving a silver sedan.

After the juvenile was shot, he fled to a friend’s house and was then taken to the hospital.

CCSO detectives investigated the area to find several 9mm casings.

Just three hours later, CCSO responded to a second call — this time on Olean Boulevard.

CCSO said the victim was not hurt but reported that several rounds were fired into her home while she was sleeping.

She mentioned that her son was having issues with someone named Joseph Muncan.

The juvenile produced a picture of Muncan. Then deputies showed it to the first victim, and he acknowledged the picture was of his acquaintance, “Joe.”

CCSO also said the casings at the Olean Boulevard scene matched the ones from the previous incident.

Investigators found that 18-year-old Joseph Muncan is the registered owner of a silver Hyundai Elantra, which was present at both scenes.

CCSO said The North Port Police Department (NPPD) found and arrested Muncan on unrelated charges.

NPPD then helped CCSO in getting a search warrant for his car.

Muncan is now in custody at the Sarasota County Jail.

He is facing charges of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon from CCSO, as well as the charges brought by North Port Police.

If anyone has any additional information, contact CCSO’s non-emergency number at (941) 639-2101.
