Disney has said it will hold the release of Rachel Zegler’s live-action Snow White remake for at least a year and will push Pixar’s Eilo to June of 2025, adding the two films to a lengthy list of blockbusters that have been rescheduled as negotiations between the actors union and Hollywood studios wears on.

Key Facts

The controversial Snow White remake has been postponed from next spring to March 21, 2025 and Disney Pixar’s Elio, which sends one little boy to outer-space, will be released in June of 2025.

Prestige drama Magazine Dreams has been pulled from Disney’s release schedule all together as its star, Jonathan Majors, prepares to stand trial in a domestic violence case.

Mission:Impossible and A Quiet Place: Day One had their release dates pushed back last week and are among a list of dozens of feature films that won’t premiere on time due to work stoppages.

Actors have been striking for more than three months as they battle with studios over streaming residual payments, limiting the use of artificial intelligence in Hollywood productions, wage increases and extended healthcare coverage.

The start of the actors’ strike on July 14 coincided with a work stoppage by writers that together brought almost all TV and movie production to a halt this summer and delayed the release of original programming across network television, movie studios and streaming services.

The Writers Guild of America has since reached a deal with studios and writers have gone back to work—restarting shows like Saturday Night Live and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver—but filming for movies and productions using union actors has not resumed, nor has promotion work for any upcoming releases.

What To Watch For

The SAG-AFTRA actors union continued to negotiate with studios and streamers this weekend, Variety reported, but no deal has been reached. The union presented its latest proposal Saturday and on Sunday told its members it would be in touch with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents the studios and streamers, on Monday to schedule next meetings. Talks have resumed after breaking down in mid October over a $500 million streaming residuals ask from the union.
