Disneyland has just released new images of what Pixar Place Hotel, its most affordable on-property accommodation, will look like when it’s complete. When construction is finished — this winter, according to Disney officials in a statement shared with SFGATE — it will be the first fully Pixar-themed hotel in America.
The hotel’s exterior is already showing signs of change, with new colorful accents added to the entry and facade. Inside the lobby, some Pixar-themed artwork is also up. “When the transformation is complete, iconic images from Pixar films will be at the front desk, with characters pictured larger than life in curated artwork,” according to the Disney Parks Blog. “This winter, as guests enter the hotel lobby, they will be greeted by the Pixar Lamp playfully balancing atop its ball! A whimsical, colorful character-inspired mobile will hang above, welcoming guests to the new, reimagined lobby atrium.”
The hotel has still been hosting guests during the renovation, but many areas of the property have been closed or under significant construction; while there’s a grab-and-go market currently open, no sit-down dining is available in the hotel. Later this summer, a new “Finding Nemo”-themed splash pad will open, and Crush the sea turtle will sit atop the hotel’s 186-foot-long waterslide.
Concept art released by the resort also includes a family play area inspired by Pixar’s short films “Bao,” “La Luna,” “For the Birds” and “Burrow.” This fall, an outpost of Southern California chain restaurant Great Maple will open in the hotel, replacing the now-closed Disney’s PCH Grill.
Pixar Place Hotel is the most affordable of Disneyland’s hotel options, with rooms starting at just over $400 a night. The resort also has the Disneyland Hotel, and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, which offer closer proximity to the parks and character dining, but at a higher price point.
Disney has said construction will be complete this winter, but the company hasn’t released any official dates yet.
