Our Halloween forecast looks like a real ‘treat’ for SWFL today!
We are running a bit warmer and muggier this morning, with temperatures failing to fall out of the 70s for most by sunrise. Temperatures will climb quickly from there under mainly sunny skies, with highs reaching the middle and upper 80s by the afternoon. No rain is expected today. While it will be fairly muggy through the first half of the day, a weak cold front will dive into the area this afternoon — bringing a push of slightly less humid air into the area behind it on the back of a northerly wind. This will leave us with a very pleasant evening for trick-or-treating, with clear skies, a nice breeze, and temperatures falling into the 70s.
Those northerly winds will continue through the night and into Wednesday, turning gusty at times on the order of 10-20 mph. That will leave us with a cooler and noticeably less humid day, with highs in the low 80s despite full sunshine. Look for the sunny, breezy, and comfortable weather to continue Thursday as well, with morning lows in the low 60s and upper 50s and highs near 80°.
The cooldown will be short-lived however as warmth and humidity will make a comeback as we head into the weekend. Highs this weekend will be near 90° with spotty afternoon downpours.
Tracking the tropics:
The NHC is monitoring an area of low pressure in the eastern Caribbean Sea. It will head westward over the very warm Caribbean waters and has a high chance of becoming a tropical depression or tropical storm as it does so this week. It will be in the vicinity of Central America by the weekend, and could at the very least throw some tropical moisture our way next week. We’ll be watching this one closely, so stay tuned for updates.
