LEE COUNTY, Fla. — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said they arrested a man who entered a woman’s car while she was sitting inside, assaulted her and then stole her iPhone.
This all happened right across the street from Gateway Charter High School just before 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
A security camera at the school captured a video of the man running away moments after attacking the woman.
LCSO said the man sprinting down Commonwealth Drive was 38-year-old William Brandi. Deputies arrested him at his Cape Coral home on Thursday morning.
On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said they received a 911 call that someone robbed a woman while she was sitting inside her car across the street from Gateway Charter High School.
The victim reported the incident to the school resource officer. She told deputies that she had driven to school that morning, parked in a different parking lot across the street, and was sitting in her car until she continued to work (school) to start her day.
She told deputies that a few minutes later Brandi opened her car door, assaulted her, then stole her iPhone 14 out of her hand and ran away.
Brandi faces charges of burglary and grand theft.
Gateway Charter High School said the parking lot where this occurred is not a school employee parking lot.
