CPD officer wounded in South Shore shooting Monday. Injuries not considered life-threatening

A Chicago Police officer was one of two people injured in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood late Monday morning, officials said.

The Chicago Fire Department confirmed that a CPD officer was shot shortly before 12 p.m. Monday near the intersection of East 73rd Street and South Dante Avenue.

Specifics were not immediately known, but CFD said the officer’s injuries were not considered life-threatening. Another person, whose age and gender were not disclosed, was also shot and taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in “extremely critical” condition, according to CFD.
