Police are investigating the death of a 69-year-old Jewish man as a possible homicide following an altercation at dual pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian demonstrations near Los Angeles.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said during a press conference Tuesday it was investigating the death of Paul Kessler in the city of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and had not ruled out a possible hate crime.
