Worth police said Tuesday two Harvey residents have been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death Saturday of a 32-year-old single mother of two.
Tamara Jailynn Johnson, 22, and Jason Terry Johnson, 23, are scheduled to appear Wednesday in bond court in Bridgeview, according to police.
Both were taken into custody Sunday following the shooting death Saturday of Jonnie Angel Klein in the 6800 block of 111th Street in Worth, according to police.
Police were called to a report of a person needing assistance and found Klein, who had been fatally shot.
Worth police directed people to a GoFundMe page which is seeking donations to cover funeral costs and other expenses. As of Tuesday, more than $26,000 was raised. Family said Klein was the mother of two children, ages 10 and 15, as well as caretaker to her mother.
Worth police are investigating possible connections by the two people charged to recent armed robberies in the Chicago area and northwest Indiana, and said when they were arrested several firearms were confiscated, one of which is suspected to have been used in Klein’s death.
