CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A house just sold for just over $6 million in Cape Coral, setting a record for the most expensive home ever sold in the city.

The house is located off 1967 Southeast 36th Terrace in southeast Cape. It sits along a canal right off the Caloosahatchee River, with direct gulf access.

The home was purchased for $5,800,000 while the furnishings were acquired at an additional cost of $263,000.

Maxwell Thompson of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s Sanibel office sold the home. Maxwell previously represented the most expensive sale in Lee County for $17,150,000 in 2021.

“This sale reflects a rare and exciting opportunity carefully curated for the ultimate waterfront destination. This property is not just a home; it’s a lifestyle statement, an embodiment of luxury living at its finest,” Thompson said.

The $6 million home was built in 2022 by Windward Construction. It is on a .43-acre lot and has 11,302 square feet, boasting 300 feet of seawall that opens up to breathtaking water views.

It has up to 16-foot high ceilings, featuring a very modern sleek look, chef’s gourmet kitchen, a private morning bar and a glass wine room.

The backyard includes entertainment areas, an outdoor kitchen, a live-edge bar, a palatial pool, tiki hut, boat lift and jetski ports.

“This house truly brought the outside living and inside living and combined it one of the best ways I’ve seen in my past 17 to 18 years of doing real estate here,” Thompson said.

He said this $6 million home won’t stay the record for long. Currently, there is a house listed in Cape Coral for $10 million and there are two more listed for over $5 million.

“People still want to live on the water and retire and enjoy life and have their boat behind their house, that is what is so appealing to so many people of why the Cape is really turning into a great hotspot,” Thompson said.
