Two people are dead in what officials are calling a murder-suicide in the 13600 block of Shannon Drive in Homer Glen, the Will County sheriff’s office said in a statement.

A woman called 911 at 5:46 p.m. Sunday stating she heard homeowners arguing, followed by the sound of gunshots, officials said.

When police arrived, they found a man and woman on the kitchen floor, and a small-caliber handgun was found near the victims, police said. Members from the Northwest Homer Fire Department also responded and confirmed the two individuals were dead, police said.

The initial investigation determined the shooting was isolated and the result of a murder and suicide, officials said. An autopsy is scheduled for both individuals, whose identities are not being released until their families are notified, police said.
