LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — A family is left without any Christmas presents after someone broke into their Lehigh Acres home and stole all of the gifts.

The crooks crawled through the window of Shana Hudson’s 10th Street West home sometime on Friday, she told ABC7.

Hudson purchased gifts for her five children early, like she does every year. On Friday afternoon, she left the house and they were neatly wrapped. When she came home only a few hours later, they were all gone.

“I feel violated. They invaded our privacy,” Hudson said. “We had wrapped it up and put it right there by the wall. After 4 p.m., I seen everything. That’s when I seen everything was gone.”

Each and every one of the more than $2,000 worth of presents she bought was gone. But that’s not all. The crooks also carried out not one but two of her TVs, a PlayStation, computers and more.

“Eight fishing pools, they took some clothes, cause I bought clothes for my five kids,” she said.

Hudson called the Lee County Sheriff’s Office to investigate, but by this point, her gifts were gone.

The worst part: she hasn’t even paid for all of them.

As a single mom, she’s making payments to see her kids smile next month. Now she’s paying for presents they’ll never open.

“I wanted my kids to have a pretty much decent Christmas,” said Hudson. “But now they ain’t going to have Christmas at all some thief came and stole out shit.”

So how exactly did this happen? Detectives are still searching for clues, but Hudson may have found the biggest one. Her kids love opening the windows at night and one window facing their back yard unlocked. It was the only one she could find that wasn’t secure.

“The perpetrators came here or whatever and check out all the windows,” she said. “Or probably had to scope out the area. Because obviously they can’t do it in the front because there’s cameras.”

On a dead-end street and bordering a canal, she ruled out every which way, except down the chimney and through the backyard, that criminals could’ve approached her home.

“You never know who’s watching you, how long they’ve been watching.”

All she knows is that she wants this Grinch to do the right thing.

“Turn yourself in and bring us back our stuff so me and my kids can have a good Christmas,” she said.

If you have any information that may help detectives find whoever did this, you can submit an anonymous online tip to SWFL Crime Stoppers or call 1-800-780-TIPS
