A cold front will dive through SWFL on this Thanksgiving Eve, bringing some showers to the area during the afternoon and evening.
A nice morning is underway ahead of the front though — with partly cloudy skies and comfortable conditions. Temperatures will climb quickly from our morning lows in the middle 60s to highs in the lower 80s by the afternoon. It will turn breezy as the front approaches later this morning, with a steady south wind at 10-20 mph.
Spotty downpours will begin to move into the area after 2PM, tracking from north to south as we head through the afternoon and evening. Rain coverage will be sparse, though a few pockets of heavier rain will be possible. The rain will clear the area by midnight, giving way to clearing skies and a comfortable night as lows fall into the middle 60s.
It’s going to be a nice Thanksgiving for SWFL behind the front! We’ll see plenty of sunshine, and highs will hold in the upper 70s. No rain is expected.
Rain chances will return for Friday and Saturday however as the front lifts back northward into the area and a disturbance moves in off the Gulf. Expect mainly cloudy skies with rounds of downpours and a couple of storms — especially late Friday into early Saturday. Highs will hold in the lower 80s.
Tropics:
The NHC continues to monitor an area of low pressure in the central Atlantic. It has a medium chance to develop into a tropical or subtropical storm as it moves eastward over the next few days. It is no threat to land regardless of development.
Hurricane season officially ends at the end of the month.
