Missing boater found dead in Caloosahatchee River

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The body of a man who went missing over the weekend was found in the Caloosahatchee River.

Chris Giangeruso was reported missing on Sunday, Nov. 26, after allegedly falling off a boat near the Alva boat ramp.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), reports of a missing boater came in around 9:30 p.m.

Giangeruso’s body was found Tuesday afternoon in Alva.

FWC said the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Hendry County Sheriff’s Office and the Alva Fire Department responded to the scene.

Giangeruso was also a former Fort Myers Beach boat captain and long-time local.
