It gets better. On Nov. 25, as first reported by The SF Standard, four famous hobbits ate at Dominique Crenn’s Atelier Crenn, a three-star Michelin restaurant in San Francisco that is regularly named one of the world’s best. OK, they weren’t real hobbits, but the actors who played the beloved “Lord of the Rings” characters in Peter Jackson’s movie adaptations of J.R.R Tolkien’s classic fantasy novels. According to Dominic Monaghan’s Instagram, the actor was joined by Elijah Wood, Sean Astin and Billy Boyd as they feasted on Crenn’s prix fixe menu and sipped on bottles of Madeira while in town for Fan Expo, an event held at Moscone Center.
The “Lord of the Rings”-specific event, called “One Reunion to Rule Them All,” was a storytelling and Q&A session that cost anywhere from free admission to $799. The most expensive tickets offered a photo opportunity with the actors, as well as their autographs. A meal at Atelier Crenn costs $475 per person, though that is not including the wine pairing.
