Chicago police issued a community alert warning of burglaries in recent days at commercial businesses on North Avenue in Old Town neighborhood on the North Side.

The first burglary happened in the morning on Nov. 5, in the 400 block of West North Ave. The burglars struck again in the morning hours of Nov. 10 in the 100 block of West North Avenue, police said.

Later on Nov. 14, the burglars wearing dark clothing broke into a business in the 300 block of West North Avenue in the evening hours, and again Nov. 18 on the same block in the morning hours, police said.

In each burglary, the thieves used a large rock to break the front glass doors to gain entry, and once inside ransacked the businesses before making off with cash registers, police said.

Anyone with information on the burglaries should contact police.
