For the second consecutive year, boxers will pack one of San Diego’s historic districts for the “Punches in Little Italy” fight card.
Saturday’s showcase features 10 three-round fights featuring amateur boxers. Doors at Washington Elementary will open at 5:30 p.m., with the first fight set for 6 p.m. Tickets, which start at $50, can be bought at bobbyde.org.
Last year’s inaugural “Puinches in the Piazza” fight night raised $40,000 for Washington Elementary, $3,000 for the Little Italy Association and $3,000 for Convivio, an Italian cultural organization. The fights are held in honor of the late boxing promoter Bobby DePhilippis, the owner of Flilippi’s Pizza Grotto in Little Italy. DePhilippis died in 2022 at age 72.
