Someone distributed antisemitic material in Calabash, North Carolina, on Christmas Eve, according to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

The material was left on properties in the Spring Mill Plantation, just over the border from South Carolina, the sheriff’s office said.

“The Sheriff’s Office takes these incidents very seriously, and it will not be tolerated in our county. Detectives are diligently investigating the incident to try and identify the responsible individual,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, which covers the southeastern-most county in North Carolina, has investigated several other incidents involving antisemitic material this year.

Last month, investigators with the county and the FBI cited a man with four counts of misdemeanor littering in connection with the fliers found in the Carolina Shores community, according to the sheriff’s office.

There’s been a rise in antisemitic and anti-Islamic incidents since the start of the war between Isreal and Palestine on Oct. 7.

The sheriff’s office said the fliers found in November did not meet the definition of a hate crime.

Investigators ask that anyone with information about these latest fliers call 911.
