Frankie Grande is striking back against absurd rumors about his sister, hitmaker Ariana Grande.

On Thursday, he responded to a headline about a fan’s joke that the “Boy Is Mine” singer is a cannibal.

“This might be the most creative and lowest y’all have ever gone,” he wrote on social media (below), alongside a screenshot of the story. “Reaching new depths daily!”

The Big Brother alum offered another cheeky retort in his social post.

“Listen, I know my sister’s been eating the girls up for years but this a bit extreme!” he wrote. “Besides, she’s vegan.”

The rumor propagation appeared to be part of a viral trend in which an artist’s supporters try to discourage others from buying tickets to their concerts so the fans can buy them all. It may also have something to do with the fact that in June, Ariana related a story on the Podcrushed podcast hosted by her “The Boy Is Mine” video costar Penn Badgley. She said that when she was young and had a fascination with serial killers, she was asked at a fan event who her dream dinner date — living or dead — would be and told the group of young fans and their parents that it would be cannibalistic serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer: “I have questions.”

Earlier this week, Ariana defended herself against negative comments about her speaking voice after a clip of her using higher and lower registers of her voice had gone viral.

“That’s a normal thing that people do,” especially when they’re actors, meant to transform into various characters, Grande said on the July 9 episode of the Evan Ross Katz-hosted podcast Shut Up Evan.

The singer and actress, who’s been filming the movie version of the musical Wicked, in which she plays Glinda, slammed the criticism as sexist.

“I mean, you see male actors…. It’s always after the fact that they’re like, ‘Oh wow, how dedicated to his craft! What an amazing transformation! He’s a brilliant performer!’ And then, god forbid, I sneeze like Glinda or something, or if I make an intonation… it’s just that I’m crazy or ‘Should someone check on her?’ It’s the weirdest thing.”

In the same show, Grande said that she and her team are working out options for trying to “trickle in some shows in between the two Wicked films,” she told PEOPLE. After all, she has a new album, Eternal Sunshine, which she released in March.
