When to order X-rays?

• Any injury

• Pain over 2 months

• Pain waking up in the middle of the night from sleeping

• Coexisting constitutional symptoms

• Activity-related pain

• Age < 4 years

• As orthopedic surgeons, we always get x-rays

Treatment/Prevention:

• Vitamin D

• New recommendations in kids is levels > 50

• Stretches, specifically hip flexors and hamstrings, and core strengthening

• Being active

• Backpack health

• Not doing schoolwork in bed
