BC Ferries says it has cancelled two sailings Friday evening in response to a wind warning issued by Environment Canada.

The cancellations are both on the Tsawwassen to Duke Point route: the 8:15 p.m. sailing from Tsawwassen and the 10:45 p.m. from Duke Point.

“If you have a booking on one of these cancelled sailings, you will hear from our Customer Service Centre to let you know if we can fit you on an alternate sailing later today, or if your booking must be cancelled,” BC Ferries said.

“In the case of a cancellation, we will refund your fees and/or fares.”

Environment and Climate Change Canada issued the wind warning Friday morning as gusts along B.C.’s South Coast are expected to pick up Friday night into Saturday.

“Winds will increase late evening and peak early overnight. Gusts will range from 60-80 km/h with the stronger winds over southern Metro Vancouver,” 1130 NewsRadio meteorologist Michael Kuss said.

Service between Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay has not been affected by wind.
