Joe Rogan and comedian Bill Maher got into a spirited debate over who they thought was worse for the country — Joe Biden or Donald Trump.
During an appearance by Maher on Saturday’s edition of the Spotify podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience,” the two men agreed that President Biden was “mentally compromised” and that there was more to learn about his role in son Hunter Biden’s business dealings.
Maher, however, took issue with Rogan appearing to equate Biden with his predecessor, Trump, by suggesting that both were equally untrustworthy.
“My biggest issue is [Biden] lies a lot,” Rogan said.
“Well, certainly not more than Trump,” Maher replied.
Rogan then shot back: “They both lie. I don’t think comparing [Biden] to Trump does anybody any good.”
“They’re running against each other, so it’s necessary,” Maher replied.
To which Rogan, who has been critical of Trump but nonetheless commands an audience that includes many people supportive of the former president, answered that Biden is “mentally compromised.”
“As if the other guy isn’t!” Maher retorted.
Rogan then offered his reasoning, saying: “[Trump] speaks much clearer.”
“He might be crazy. He might be a sociopath. It still doesn’t take away from the fact there’s something wrong with Biden,” Rogan said.
“He makes up words. He stumbles through things,” the podcast host added.
“He doesn’t seem to know where he is half the time. That’s my problem with him.”
Maher, however, didn’t disagree, though he urged Rogan to lower his expectations.
“We’re living in a world where ‘perfect’ is not on the menu,” Maher said. “These are the choices.”
Rogan and Maher then steered the conversation toward which of the two was healthier.
Maher conceded that Trump “looks and sounds a lot more hearty and robust.”
“He’s a city roach,” Maher said of Trump. “The worse things he eats the stronger he gets.”
“You cannot kill him,” Maher said of the former president.
“He’s also the only [president] who didn’t noticeably age,” Rogan said of Trump.
To which Maher replied: “No, we did,” prompting laughter from Rogan.
Maher then blasted Trump as a “criminal” who is “crazy” and “stupid.”
“And crazy and stupid are two different things … Stupid is ‘Frederick Douglass is alive’ or ‘the stealth bomber is literally invisible,’” Maher said of Trump.
“Crazy is ‘it’s important that the crowd at my inauguration was the biggest ever, and I’m going to make an issue of this for the first two weeks of my presidency despite photographic evidence of the contrary.’ Or ‘I’m going to steal these documents, and I’m going put them next to the toilet at Mar-A-Lago, and I’m going to fight you to take them back.’
“Or ‘I’m not conceding the election.’ Those are crazy … he’s also a criminal.”
Maher then spoke about Trump’s behavior in the aftermath of the November 2020 presidential election.
“He tried every possible way of stealing this election,” Maher said.
“He tried to do it through the courts. He tried to do it through the legislators. He tried to do it through intimidating Mike Pence,” Maher continued.
“He tried to do it through the Justice Department. They talked about seizing voting machines! They talked about using the Army!”
Maher added: “You can’t really believe this guy is not worse than Joe Biden.”
“I agree — Joe Biden is not a great president,” Maher said.
“And the Hunter Biden stuff is a stinky scandal that stinks to the high heaven. But if you think that it compares to what Trump tried to do, then you just cannot tell unlike things apart.”
Rogan then wondered: “Do you think he really believes they stole the election? Or do you think he’s bulls–tting?”
“Who gives a f–k?” Maher said. “It doesn’t matter…all the people around him told him he lost.”
“He’s a clinical case of malignant narcissism,” Maher said.
