BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — A Bonita Springs couple is facing child neglect and drug possession charges after a 14-month-old child overdosed on cocaine in pill form.
On Sunday, October 29, deputies responded to a medical call at a home on Streetsboro Lane in Bonita Springs.
A 14-month-old child was found inside the home unresponsive and transported to a local hospital.
Diego Tzoy Pu, 33, and Santa Lux Pu De Tzoy, 30, stated the infant took several pills described to be oxycodone.
Diego pulled a bag from his pocket containing several pills. The pills field tested positive for cocaine.
Deputies say the wallet containing the drugs was placed on a bedside table that the child had access to.
Just before calling 911, the child was seen screaming and crying with a blue pill in her teeth.
The child was transported to a local hospital, given Narcan, and is in stable condition.
According to a report, a drug test was conducted on the child and she tested positive for cocaine.
The report said her father had cocaine and fentanyl in his system.
Detectives are still waiting for the results of the child’s fentanyl drug test.
Deputies found a pill on the bed, one on a safe next to the bed, pills in a backpack and bags of cocaine on a nearby shelf.
Diego and Santa are held in Lee County Jail. DCF is also conducting an investigation.
