A 15-year-old boy was charged with 11 felony counts of armed robbery in connection to a rash of robberies that happened throughout the city, Chicago police said.
Police said the young teen was charged for participating in the armed robberies that happened within several hours on Aug. 20 throughout the city.
The armed robberies started about 12:30 a.m. and continued till about 5:30 a.m. Aug. 20.
In the first robbery, a 29-year-old woman fell victim to armed robbers in the 600 block of West 63rd Street in the Englewood neighborhood. The boy was identified as one of the robbers who victimized people in the following armed robberies:
- About 12:35 a.m. a 43-year-old man was robbed in the 3600 block of West Lake Street.
- About 1:30 a.m. a 54-year-old man in the 1400 block of North Central Avenue.
- About 2:45 a.m. a 38-year-old man was robbed in the 1900 block of West 79th Street.
- About 3 a.m., a 39-year-old man was robbed in the 7900 block of South Racine Avenue.
- About 3:50 a.m., a 26-year-old man was robbed in the 600 block of East 79th Street.
- About 4 a.m., two women, both 28, were robbed in the 500 block of East 79th Street.
- About 5:30 a.m., two men, ages 24 and 22, were robbed in the 3400 block of South Ashland Avenue.
- About 5:40 a.m., a 31-year-old man was robbed in the 1000 block of West 35th Street.
The boy was not identified because he is a juvenile.
