Added to the 40-man roster on Sept. 1, Brandon Lockridge could still force his way into the Padres’ plans this season.
Especially with more games like Thursday’s.
The 27-year-old outfielder doubled twice among his five hits, pestering Reno throughout Triple-A El Paso’s 7-6 win.
The five-hit game lifted Lockridge’s batting line to .346/.440/.458 in 28 games since the trade into organization.
He also swiped a base and drove in two runs.
The Padres acquired Lockridge at the trade deadline from the Yankees for reliever Enyel De Los Santos as a potential speed option for the playoffs.
Lockridge is 45-for-51 in stolen bases across his two Triple-A stops, including 12-for-14 since joining the Chihuahuas.
Third baseman Eguy Rosario (.910 OPS) drove in two runs on his 20th homer, tops in the Padres’ farm system.
Right fielder Cal Mitchell (.831 OPS) doubled in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning.
Center fielder Bryce Johnson (.894 OPS) went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.
Left-hander Austin Davis (3.40 ERA) saved his 10th game with a scoreless ninth.
Right-hander Carl Edwards Jr. (4.83 ERA) struck out 10 over six innings of three-run ball in the start.
El Paso is 53-81.
